constant muting of background music

Heyy, i recently installed Crystal on my main machine, but i have the really stupid issue that music gets really quiet until i cant hear it anymore and the volume ramps up and i can hear it again. i "researched" the issue (i googled it), but i couldnt fix it and i have no idea if this is from onyx or if im missing some kind of flag anywhere.

pls help 😃 i need my music back </3

Hey, this sounds really strange, are you potentially using the GSConnect plugin to integrate with KDE Connect on a mobile device?

Michal S. no, im pretty sure im not using any kde plugins since onyx is based on gnome. i read about the voice/phone functionality in pulseaudio where it tries to priotize voip software and automutes other software over time (which is exactly whats happening). but i cant find the pulseaudio default.pa configuration file anywhere so i cant disable it with the config.

bamsi Sorry for the confusion, GSConnect is a GNOME shell extension that comes with Onyx and gives KDE Connect support to the GNOME shell

As for the pulseaudio config file, we actually use Pipewire by default (and as such, pipewire-pulse as a stand-in)

There's a chance that it could be configurable in the VOIP software you use (I believe it's configurable in both Discord and Skype)

Out of curiosity, which VOIP software are you using that could potentially be the culprit?

i think we can close this one. its actually a hardware issue with my wireless headset and seems to be exclusively to this headset (razer nari ultimate) and it looks to be caused by the internal mixer inside the headset which has two outputs, one mono for calls and the normal one for desktop sound. i think it mislead me a bit.
